➕ Adding Devices to Orders
Learn how to add devices to orders with complete details for tracking and repair.
Adding a Device
From the Order
- Open the order
- Click Add Device
- Complete the device form
- Click Save
Device Form Fields
Basic Information

Security

Issue Details

Custom Device Types
If your device type isn't listed:
- Go to Settings → Device Types
- Click Add Device Type
- Enter the name
- Save
Device Brands and Models
Pre-Loaded Database
RepairMinder includes a comprehensive database of:
- Major phone brands (Apple, Samsung, Google, etc.)
- Tablet manufacturers
- Laptop brands
- Gaming consoles
Adding Custom Brands
- When adding a device, type a new brand name
- Click Create "[Brand Name]"
- Brand is added to your list
Adding Custom Models
- Select the brand
- Type a new model name
- Click Create "[Model Name]"
- Model is added under that brand
Recording Accessories
Customers often leave accessories with their device:
- On the device form, find Accessories
- Check items included:
- Charger
- Cable
- Case
- SIM Card
- Screen Protector
- Other (specify)
- Add notes for "Other" items
Tracking Return
When returning the device, verify accessories:
- Check off items returned
- Note any discrepancies
- Customer acknowledges receipt
Condition Grading
Use consistent grading to set expectations:
| Grade | Condition | Description |
|---|---|---|
| A | Excellent | Like new, no visible wear |
| B | Good | Minor scratches, fully functional |
| C | Fair | Noticeable wear, works properly |
| D | Poor | Significant damage, may have issues |
Record the grade when the device arrives to protect against disputes.
Find My / iCloud Status
Critical for Apple devices:
| Status | Can You Repair? |
|---|---|
| Off | ✅ Yes, proceed |
| On - Customer Present | ⚠️ Ask to disable |
| On - Customer Not Present | ❌ Cannot proceed |
| Activation Locked | ❌ Cannot repair |
💡 Tip: Always check Find My status before accepting an Apple device for repair.
Multiple Devices
To add more devices to the same order:
- Save the first device
- Click Add Another Device
- Repeat the process
Each device is tracked independently but linked to the same order.
Editing Device Details
After adding a device:
- Open the order
- Click on the device
- Click Edit
- Make changes
- Save
Removing a Device
If a device was added incorrectly:
- Open the order
- Click on the device
- Click Remove Device
- Confirm
⚠️ This removes the device record. For devices already worked on, consider changing status instead.
